Tradesperson of the Year — 2025 NominationsAt the 2025 Humboldt Builders’ Exchange Christmas Party, held December 5th at Bear River Casino, we celebrated one of our favorite annual traditions: recognizing the people who keep Humboldt’s construction industry strong, skilled, and community-minded.
Each year, HBE presents up to eight nominations for Tradesperson of the Year, honoring individuals whose work ethic, leadership, and commitment make a measurable difference in their companies and on the job site. These awards shine a light on the tradespeople and emerging leaders who demonstrate not only technical skill, but mentorship, integrity, and pride in their craft.
Below are two of the honorees highlighted this year:
Andrew Stephens — Hooven & Co., Inc.
From day one to leadership, Andrew Stephens has truly earned his nomination. His team at Hooven & Co., Inc. recognized his dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to mentor new crew members. Celebrating the evening with his fiancée, Lexi Miranda, Andrew exemplifies how excellence in the trades comes from both professionalism and character.
Amanda Malfatti — MM Electric
It was also a special night for MM Electric. Amanda Malfatti was nominated for Tradesperson of the Year, and her family was there to cheer her on. As part of a father-and-daughter company, Amanda represents the next generation of skilled tradeswomen contributing to Humboldt’s electrical workforce. Her nomination reflects not just technical ability, but the pride and continuity of family-led craftsmanship in our region.
These moments — captured in photos and shared among colleagues, family, and friends — reflect what the Builders’ Exchange is all about: honoring the people who build Humboldt County, investing in the next generation, and celebrating the community behind the work.
