On November 17, 2025, members of the Humboldt Builders Exchange Executive Board — Pat Hooven (Hooven & Co., Inc.), Yolynn St. John (Kernen Construction), and Lori DeVoist (Pierson Company) — attended the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce Mixer to support the Exchange as a co-sponsor of the event.
Despite wet November weather, the board’s participation reflected the long-standing partnership between HBE and local business organizations, and highlighted the way trades leadership contributes to the broader economic and civic life of Humboldt County.
The mixer brought together contractors, suppliers, small businesses, and community members for networking and collaboration. Events like this demonstrate how the construction industry plays a direct role in community development, local employment, and regional growth — and underscore the commitment of HBE board members who volunteer their time outside the job site to represent the industry.
