From the Times-Standard of July 12, 2000 comes a classic photo of John McBeth (left) and Rob McBeth (right) of O&M Industries — a snapshot that captures just one moment in a long-running Humboldt success story. O&M Industries has been a fixture in the region’s industrial and construction landscape for decades, contributing to some of the area’s most complex mechanical, fabrication, and industrial projects.
Founded on a blend of field know-how, problem-solving, and hands-on fabrication capacity, O&M built its reputation in the same way many enduring Humboldt firms have: by quietly doing difficult work well. Over the years, the company expanded from its local roots to include larger industrial clients and specialized projects, while continuing to support jobs here at home.
The McBeth family has always played a central role in O&M’s leadership and growth. John brought depth and experience to the company’s early operations, supporting both field and management functions as the business expanded. Rob — pictured at right in the Times-Standard photo — represents the next generation of leadership, continuing both the family’s involvement in the company and its connection to the broader construction community.
That connection runs straight through the Humboldt Builders Exchange. Rob has served on our Board of Directors for many years, offering perspective from the industrial side of the construction world and helping ensure that our organization serves the full range of Humboldt trades, from residential contractors to heavy industry.
Today, O&M Industries continues to operate across multiple locations, supporting industrial and mechanical projects throughout the western states, while keeping its Humboldt presence strong. The company’s longevity and regional influence reflect a story that’s familiar to many in our membership: small beginnings, steady growth, and a lasting commitment to craft, safety, and community.
From that Times-Standard photo in 2000 to the modern day, O&M’s history remains intertwined with the Builders Exchange and the region’s construction heritage — a reminder of how legacy firms help shape the fabric of Humboldt’s built environment.
